| OZ CHARACTER CONCEPTION DRAWINGS. These pencils were used by Bill to come up with the characters in the first Oz series (1994). Similar to splash pages, these concentrate on details, clothing and mood. Some are wonderfully loose and freeform sketches, others tightly rendered. An interesting insight into the planning of Oz.
Four Sketches #1, pencil. Goblin king, Goblin soldiers, Tin Man and Scarecrow. Great detail of soldier's helmet, beautifully loose scarecrow sketch. Bill mounted all four to a 13.5 x 22 board with masking tape - display them together or separate for four pieces - a deal at $60. Click here to view.
Four Sketches #2, pencil. Different scarecrow characters, labeled Stuffy, Dummy, ? and a beautifully forlorn Scarecrow face. Bill mounted all four to a 13.5 x 22 board with masking tape - display them together or separate for four pieces - a deal at $60. Click here to view.
Four Sketches #3, pencil. Witch's cloak and Satch, full figures, Scarecrow and Lacey, face studies. We love the way Bill quickly and deftly sketched the cloak, and the lovely female scarecrow. Bill mounted all four to a 13.5 x 22 board with masking tape - display them together or separate for four pieces - a deal at $60. Click here to view.
Two Scarecrow Sketches, pencil and colored pencil. Most everyone's favorite character. It's interesting how Bill uses the burgundy and blue colored pencils in one sketch. The other is full figure and moody. Bill mounted both to a 13.5 x 22 board with masking tape - display them together or separate for four pieces - a deal at $60. Click here to view.
Peter, pencil. This is a 11 x 17 "splash page" looking character study of Peter in two poses, head shot and shoes. The only study available here that is NOT several pictures on a board. $60. Click here to view.
Pan the Demon, pencil. The original concept for the mini-warrior with pointy ears. An action sketch and two costume sketches. Bill mounted all three to a 13.5 x 22 board with masking tape - display them together or separate for three pieces - a deal at $60. Click here to view.
