Done-in-One Short Stories to be Solicited in January, February Previews

Finally, the announcement is here: "Seductions," Gary Scott Beatty's done-in-one comic short story will be solicited in January 2008's Previews order catalog for March delivery and "Adam Among the Gods," the second done-in-one comic short story from Aazurn Publishing will be solicited in February for April shipping.
Those of you who have followed the story along through my email list subscription (See "Join Aazurn Publishing Email List" above) and here on Comic Artists Direct.com (Click here to read every chapter) know it has been a two year project producing and submitting the books, leading to this self-publishing venture.
Large publishers were impressed but could not commit to books that fell outside of their business model. I received many good, positive comments and encouragement to continue submitting. I supposed if these had been zombie books, manga drawings or licensed property stories they would have been more accessible to the big publishers. But the idea from the beginning was to do something different, to be at the beginning of trends, to lead the way. My advice to anyone submitting comics today is, "Think INSIDE the box if you want to work for others." If Aazurn books don't fall into the big publishers' narrowed views of what is sellable in the mass market, so be it! Every writer and artist I enjoy has made his name by looking beyond what everyone else is doing.
There are many, many small publishers that could be interested, and I know many of them personally, but I made the decision. No small publisher has any advantage over me taking on the challenges of launching these books myself. No one will put more into pushing these books than I will. So it's no contest!
I talk with my brand manager at Diamond this week. If you think that's going to be a closed door session, you haven't been reading the Aazurn Publishing saga long! I am committed to passing along every triumph and tragedy to you, dear readers, be you curious fans or publishing wannabes.
Aazurn Publishing will be listed in Previews in January and February. WATCH FOR IT! I'll keep you informed. This Aazurn Publishing saga is still ongoing and it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings and hands you over your freshly printed product!
